iPhone 11: this will be and will work the triple camera of (some of) the next Apple phones, according to 9to5Mac

Accompanying high record temperatures (and every summer more, it seems) there are always rumors coming due to the fact that in the last third of the year we expect important releases from manufacturers as notorious as Google, Huawei or Apple. From this third we have seen supposed leaks on cameras of peculiar design, and apparently the operation of the cameras of the next iPhone has been filtered .

Last year we saw that the double camera was maintained in what is now Apple’s first line of smartphones, with the iPhone XS and XS Max on the one hand and the iPhone XR on the other , with a single rear camera. And what we now see are triple rear camera models represented by hundreds of mockups and renders that seem to match what Cupertino’s are preparing for this year.

The wide angle arrives

As we said in the introduction, we have been seeing rumors and theories based on possible information that point to a triangular scheme of rear cameras on the next iPhone. And the last push to this was given by the people of 9to5Mac , who speak of sources that have already seen the terminals.

Thus, according to the publication Apple prepares some new iPhone with three rear cameras inside an effectively square module, very similar to those mockups we already saw months ago. Three cameras that will compose the most repeated scheme in the current mobile landscape: a standard lens, a telephoto and a wide angle .

Beyond the components, they also talk about software. Specifically a function called Smart Frame , which is based on capturing the area around what is initially framed, thus collecting more information to be able to rearrange images afterwards.

As these sources have explained, users will be able to manually or automatically adjust the perspective and trim thanks to this extra information captured, but this will be available only for a certain period of time for privacy reasons (and apparently not so much space ).

In addition, the one that will receive improvements with respect to the foregoing is apparently the front camera . No data have been leaked on sensors or lenses, but it has been said that Apple will add the ability to record in slow motion at 120 frames per second , along with other improvements.

Three new iPhone, but not three rear cameras for everyone

Thus, in the next batch of Apple smartphones we expect to see three phones , but not everyone would benefit from this extension to three rear cameras so that there would be one with less again in the future Apple triplet:

  • iPhone 11R : with the Arabic and non-Roman number as we mentioned a few months ago, this model named “N104 (iPhone12,1)” would be the one that takes over from the iPhone XR and is the one that would continue with one less camera (now they would be two) and an LCD panel (828 x 1,792 pixels).
  • iPhone 11 : the direct heir of the iPhone XS, with the internal nomenclature of “D42 (iPhone12,3)”, with triple rear camera and OLED screen of 1,125 x 2,436 pixels.
  • iPhone 11 Max : the one that would collect the witness of the iPhone XS Max, also with three rear cameras but with a larger screen and higher resolution (an OLED of 1,242 x 2,688 pixels), with the internal name of “D43 (iPhone12.5 ) ”

Thus, the resolutions we saw in the 2018 models would be maintained, but the change would come among others with Haptic Touch. One of the novelties of iOS 13 that would replace 3D Touch, thanks to an improvement in the Taptic Engine (the vibration system).

Some of this latest information includes some more security for the conservation of the Lightning port and not a change to USB type C. And as for the possible incursion of a Time of Fligt (TOF) sensor it seems that we will have to wait to see it on an iPhone next year .
